Please help us to support vulnerable local families this Christmas
As travel specialists, we like to think that most of our work helps people’s dreams come true, taking them to a destination they have long yearned to visit, or go on a once-in-a-lifetime cruise, or simply by making wonderful memories that they can continue to look back on once they return, perhaps even making new friendships during their time away. When you think about it, a lot of what we love about travel is how it connects us to each other, and to other people.
We have all experienced a year like none other, and Covid-19 has caused an unprecedented challenge for thousands of families across the UK, including many who were already struggling. Christmas is now approaching, and although we now have a slightly clearer idea of how it may look, based on newly revealed restrictions and relaxations, it will be a very different Christmas to any we’re likely to have experienced previously (or, hopefully, will have to again).
This year, most of our work hasn’t been about helping people’s dreams come true, but we hope that we can turn that around a bit in time for the festive season.
While we haven’t been able to travel like we used to, during lockdown and since, many of us have perhaps instead focussed more on our local communities, and local businesses. Inspired by this renewed focus on our local communities and by our very own local hero, Sir Captain Tom, Team Select would like to give back in some way to our local community. Given the pressures and challenges brought on by Covid-19 this year, many Bedford families will be struggling to buy presents for their children. As both a family-run business and proud Bedfordians, Select Travel Holidays would like to donate Christmas Gifts for vulnerable children and families in our local community living in poverty, who were already facing their own challenges before being compounded by Covid-19. We have partnered with ‘Families First Bedfordshire, Early Childhood Partnership, Powered by One YMCA’ for this project, and we would greatly appreciate it if you would support us by donating a gift. We hope that, in doing so, we can make Christmas a little more special for some local families who have struggled through this year.
If you would like to help us by donating, all you need to do is select a gift from this Wishlist. Once you get to the check out, select the delivery option for ‘Mrs R H Wright, Bedford, Beds – Gift Registry address’ which should appear like this:
If you do not have an Amazon account, please contact us to let us know which gift(s) you would like to select, and we will take payment details to order on your behalf.
