Greece

Welcome to Greece

The ancient philosophers Plato and Aristotle, the epic poems of Homer, the birthplace of theatre and democracy, legends of Zeus and Heracles and more, Greece's magnificent ancient civilisation still lives on its striking ruins, but there's also charming islands resplendent with white-stone and blue domes, Byzantine mosaics, olive groves and vineyards spectacular sailing and watersports, and exceptional hospitality to be enjoyed in Greece today.
Consisting of the mainland and thousands of islands dotted across the sparkling azure Aegean and Ionian seas, Greece is a land of rolling hills, olive groves, blue domes and white stone villages, and remarkable ancient ruins standing testament to its impressive ancient history and grandeur reflecting its reputation as the birthplace of Western civilisation. Greece is also well-known for its beaches, whether it’s the black sands of the idyllic island of Santorini or Mykonos’ popular party resorts, and exceptionally friendly and passionate people. Its mixture of land and water sports, delectable gastronomy, wines (and, not forgetting, notoriously strong ouzo), beaches, historical treasures, and wonderful, predominantly sunny Mediterranean, climate makes it an exceptionally crowd-pleasing destination for many.

Piraeus, the ancient port city dating back to the 3rd century BC and the Persian Wars, is Europe’s biggest passenger port and a major cruise hub. It’s conveniently close to iconic Athens, and is a springboard for Greek island-hopping or exploring the wider Mediterranean.
