Day One – Athens
Your sailing adventure starts today as you fly out to the Greek capital of Athens, one of the greatest cities of antiquity, dating back some 4,000 years. Arrive at any time, and meet your fellow travellers at 5pm for a welcome meeting and safety briefing. Enjoy a night cap on the boat or head out to sample the Athens nightlife; whilst the city may be dominated by ancient 5th century BCE landmarks such as the hilltop Acropolis, Athens is a buzzing contemporary city, offering a vibrant nightlife.
Days Two to Six – Northern Cyclades
Today you set sail for the Cyclades, a group of picturesque islands boasting rugged landscapes, ancient ruins, sun-kissed beaches, and quaint blue-and-white traditional villages – you’ll enjoy a flexible itinerary decided upon by the group’s wishes, so with the help of your experienced skippers, you’ll be able to explore off the beaten track and find hidden gems. You may choose to stroll through the markets of Syros, admiring the island’s distinctive medieval architecture, browsing through must-grab deals and maybe coming across countless treasures, or visit the stone lion on the northern island of Kea, being sure to visit a family-owned silver shop. Soak up in local hot springs while watching the sunrise in Kythnos. Perhaps you’d visit Hydra, an island which has inspired painters and writers, journeying by a local ‘taxi’ (or, a donkey) and exploring the gorgeous sights of this charming island, where no cars are allowed. Visit historic Aegina and admire its historic churches and temples, before wandering through the local fish market, or tasting some of the local pistachios. During your time sailing around these islands, whichever islands the group chooses to hop on, you’ll be able to discover the charms and allure of these Aegean islands – immersing yourself in history, culture, the beauty of the islands, traditional villages, and perhaps hiking or scuba diving, or more!
Days Seven and Eight – Mykonos
Arrive in the island of Mykonos, said to have been the mythological battle site between Zeus and the Titans, and where Heracles killed the invincible giants after luring them from the protection of Mount Olympus. Nicknamed the ‘Island of the Winds’, you’ll visit the local windmills today before enjoying a cocktail on a veranda overlooking Little Venice. Soak up the beauty of the beaches and the vibrant nightlife on this historic and cosmopolitan island, before departing after breakfast on day eight. However, if you would prefer to spend more time on this island, our dedicated travel specialists would be happy to arrange an extension on Mykonos!
