Whether joining a small group, private or escorted tour, travelling solo or with your family, be awed by Asia's history, culture, cuisine, landscapes, people, and wildlife!
You can expect both the ridiculous and the sublime in Asia, a continent composed of eclectic and fascinating countries, with many experiencing burgeoning economies, ever-growing middle classes, and fast-paced lunges into modernity, making for striking contrasts with centuries of tradition. From the Himalayas to the verdant rainforests of Borneo and volcanoes of Indonesia, from the rugged expanses and deserts of Mongolia to the lush hill stations and tea plantations of southern India, and the mighty rivers which offer their own unique experiences - whether the Ganges, Brahmaputra, Yangtze, or Mekong or Irrawaddy - there's a wide range of choice of landscapes to explore! If you're a keen historian or a culture vulture, you're also spoilt for choice in Asia, whether it's some of the world's best known monuments - the Great Wall of China or Terracotta Warriors, the beloved Taj Mahal, or Cambodia's iconic Angkor Wat - or actually witnessing ancient rituals and traditions, from the daily alms giving at dawn in Laos' Luang Prabang or meeting a geisha or maiko in Japan for a tea ceremony, or fascinating insights into daily life. All of these can be experienced on a tour, with excursions - as well as transfers and accommodation - all sorted for you.
Solo tours - whether exclusively for solo travellers or specific dates set aside for single travellers - enable solo travellers to explore Asia confidently without a single supplement, and with the added benefit of getting to know other like-minded people who could be potential friends for life! There are also some carefully curated tours designed for families, so that multiple generations, or perhaps parents and kids, can travel and explore together, learning about and experiencing different cultures. Whoever you're travelling with, escorted tours are a great way to see Asia, with your tour leader taking away all the stresses and strains, and excursions and tours balancing well with free time for independent exploration, while small group tours offer a more intimate atmosphere, and you'll get to know your fellow travellers better. Asia is also great for private tours, too, so you can visit some of the world's greatest UNESCO World Heritage Sites and explore fascinating cities with just your own guides. Rail tours offer a different way to travel and tour the continent, including Japan's iconic bullet trains, or the luxurious Golden Eagle on the legendary Trans-Siberian route which takes you through Russia, Mongolia, and into the heart of China. River cruises combine with tours so you can witness life on the river, as well as discovering more with your tour leader. Whoever you're travelling with, or however you wish to travel, our travel specialists can find the right tour for you!
Asia is the world's largest continent (and most populous), featuring many different - and very varied - countries. Some of these countries offer up diverse and eclectic experiences, and you may well wish to tour just one country in-depth, or combine multiple destinations.
India offers up a wealth of experiences in itself, and there's a wide range of tours exploring just India - whether focussing on India's famous 'Golden Triangle' of Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, or going beyond - but if you head up north, then India can act as a gateway to the Himalayas, and the mystical and beautiful countries of Nepal and Bhutan, the 'Thunder Kingdom'. Nepal is also sometimes combined with Tibet, an autonomous region of China on the northern side of the Himalayas. Not surprisingly, Tibet and China are also commonly combined on tours, particularly ideal if you've already been introduced to China and want to explore a little deeper, or like to head off the beaten track. These Himalayan Kingdoms offer up incredible landscapes and intriguing cultures and history, featuring temples and palaces, and so much more. Some tours combine the equally fascinating histories and cultures of China and Japan, which are both renowned for their striking contrasts of ultra modern skyscrapers and ancient monuments.
Southeast Asia is often referred to as Indochina, as these countries - Vietnam, Thailand, Burma, Laos, and Cambodia - are nestled between the giant nations of India and China. Direct flights are available only to Vietnam and Thailand, and often these countries will be combined with Burma, Laos and/or Cambodia, for a deeper exploration of the region. The mighty Mekong river courses through Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia, with most Mekong river cruises commonly following the stretch through Vietnam and Cambodia. Whilst there may be some similarities in these countries, dig a little deeper, and you'll discover some intriguing differences unique to each country, including cuisine. Cambodia is best known for the Khmer ruins of Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious monument, as well as the more recent tragic past caused by the notorious Khmer Rouge, while Vietnam's recent history with the infamous Vietnam War makes it a fascinating destination for those interested in modern history, as does Thailand's Bridge over the River Khwai. But in each of these countries, you can witness ancient traditions and rituals, too, perhaps enjoying the opportunity to meet Buddhist monks and nuns.
Borneo's orangutans and rainforests make for a fascinating contrast with Malaysia's colonial cities. Borneo itself is shared by Malaysia, Indonesia and the tiny Sultanate state of Brunei.
