Since 1989, when it was just two bearded backpackers, a typewriter and a kitchen table, Intrepid have been combining responsible travel, small groups and big adventures. Whether you’re looking to go off the beaten track or cook up a storm, their small group tours enable you to culturally immerse yourself and have an unforgettable grassroots travel experience. Over the years, they have honed three different travel styles to suit different types of travellers: the ‘Original’ trips, which use well-located, tourist-class hotels, and sometimes homestays, local guesthouses and maybe even some camping; the ‘Basix’ which are better suited to those on a budget, which use simple, clean and centrally located accommodation and public transport where possible, and more free time to allow travellers to do the things which best suit their budget and interests; and the ‘Comfort’ trips which have smoothed away some of the rougher edges of travel, featuring a more relaxed pace of travel, comfortable accommodation with private amenities – generally smaller local hotels that reflect the region’s environment, and are generally centrally located – as well as more activities, tours and meals included, with an experienced local leader, and (for most destinations) arrival transfer is also included.
