REGENT SEVEN SEAS VOYAGER CRUISE REVIEW

I’m Amy, and for the past decade, I’ve sailed on luxury ships across every ocean—from the Mediterranean’s hidden coves to the remote fjords of the polar regions. When I boarded Regent Seven Seas Voyager for this recent voyage, I arrived not as a first-time cruiser but as someone who’s seen what excellence should look like at sea.

In this first-hand account, I share every detail: from the moment we stepped into Voyager’s soaring Atrium and smelled fresh pastries wafting from her 24-hour café, to the impeccable service levels (with nearly two crew members for every three guests) and the moments of authentic delight in her suites, restaurants, and lounges. I’ll take you behind the scenes—what truly amazed me, where the experience dialed back, and whether Voyager earned her lofty reputation in my book.

Join me as I walk you through the highs, the subtle surprises, and the occasional caveats of sailing onboard Regent’s timeless Voyager. If you’re wondering whether this ship lives up to the luxury cruise promise, you’re in the right place.

Seven Seas Voyager

Built in Genoa, Regent Seven Seas Cruises  luxury cruise ship  Seven Seas Voyager was designed with space in mind. Boasting  all suites and all balconies for its 700 guests , with a gross tonnage of 42,363, if the ship had been designed differently, it could ultimately have had a total capacity for 2,000 guests, proving that with Regent, space is king.

As well as being delightfully spacious, Voyager is a beautifully refined, elegant and sleek ship, and with 2 crew members for every three passengers, the crew to guest ratio is impressive, and delivers tip-top personal service.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager Review:

Is This the Ultimate Cruise?

Seven Seas Voyager: First Look

As I embarked on the ship, the first thing that caught my eye was the ship’s Atrium. Reaching up 8 decks, the Atrium is spacious (that is, after all, the watchword!), gleaming and modern, with winding staircases and a shiny modernist sculpture as a centrepiece. My nose was simultaneously met with the glorious smell of fresh pastry, as the 24-hour Coffee Connection – where you can not only caffeinate yourself at any time you like, but also snack on cookies and pastries – is located near where we embarked, and smelt incredibly tempting.

Embarkation on Seven Seas Voyager

Embarkation for Regent Seven Seas Cruises guests is simple onboard Seven Seas Voyager, and comfortable too, with no waiting around. Guests arriving early can get onboard at noon, check-in at the gorgeous Constellation Theatre, before going up to the Pool Deck to relax,  enjoy a glass of champagne  and tuck into lunch at the outdoor Grill. The process could not be simpler, and is the ideal way to start a luxury cruise.

Once onboard, guests can enjoy one of the most all-inclusive cruise experiences on the high seas : onboard drinks, speciality restaurants, and shore excursions are all included. Onboard, you only need to pay for spa and beauty treatments, and the casino!

Restaurants and dining on Seven Seas Voyager

Voyager boasts a range of restaurants, from its flagship restaurant Compass Rose, to a more informal, al fresco dining option featuring late breakfasts, which by night offers an al fresco Italian trattoria.

You can enjoy a wide variety of European-inspired Continental cuisine served within a beautiful setting decorated in shades of blue and silver, complemented by stunning Versace tableware (if you turn the plates over you can see its made by Versace - we did!)

As the premier dining room on each Regent ship, the spacious Compass Rose welcomes guests for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while offering an exceptional array of European-inspired Continental cuisine, along with delicious vegetarian and kosher options. This restaurant enjoys a serene atmosphere filled with natural light during the day. With open seating and an attentive, professional Maître D’, you'll have no trouble securing a table for two or accommodating a larger festive gathering—no reservations necessary.

Available only at dinner time, the speciality restaurants onboard – Chartreuse and Prime 7 – require reservations, but no additional cost. For   sublime French cuisine , Chartreuse is the place to go onboard, boasting dinnerware made by Versace again, whilst Prime 7 offers succulent steaks and great ambience  as it is handsomely decorated with supple leather wing-back chairs, and rich earth-toned fabrics. It is possible to make one reservation at each of these unmissable restaurants up to 90 days before you sail; don’t worry, you can make more reservations onboard!

Chartreuse

A restaurant boasting a modern French menu, Chartreuse offers an unparalleled dining experience characterized by the meticulous attention to detail you'll appreciate in its stunning Parisian décor, expertly prepared dishes, and impeccable wait staff. It's about the closest thing you’ll find to a genuine Parisian culinary gem while cruising the high seas!

Tucked away in the elegant Horizon Lounge, Chartreuse is a hidden treasure that specializes in remarkable modern French fare. Here, attentive servers and a dedicated maître d' are always on hand to ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of flawless and enhanced by a carefully curated selection of the finest French wines.

Prepare to savour exceptional ‘new’ flavours at Chartreuse, such as succulent frog legs delicately dressed in a rich garlic cream sauce paired with earthy rutabaga, or take a bite into the tender veal rack of loin, perfectly complemented by caramelised endive, a delightful grape chutney, and the complex, earthy tones of a walnut veal jus sauce. Each dish promises to transport your taste buds straight to the heart of France.

Prime 7

An elegantly intimate, art-filled, and luxurious setting awaits you at Prime 7, perfect for enjoying classic American steakhouse cuisine with a contemporary flair. Each detail has been thoughtfully curated to create an atmosphere that complements the culinary experience. A handsome bar, complete with an impressive selection of spirits, serves as a welcoming and relaxing destination if you happen to arrive early, providing the ideal spot to unwind and socialize before your meal.

A true classic in every sense, Prime 7 sets a new standard in American steakhouse fare. The restaurant is handsomely decorated with supple leather wing-back chairs, rich burnished woods, and a palette of earth-toned fabrics that evoke warmth and sophistication. Prime 7 even offers the unique experience of watching skilled chefs work their magic behind the scenes in the open kitchen, adding an interactive element to your dining journey.

Be sure to enjoy a meticulously crafted cocktail at the bar before indulging in a succulent filet mignon or savoring the exquisite flavors of mouthwatering côte de boeuf. It’s important to note that Prime 7 is open exclusively for dinner, making it a perfect place for an evening of fine dining and memorable moments.

La Veranda

For a relaxed breakfast until 10am or a light lunch, La Veranda is the ideal destination. During our ship visit, we caught a glimpse of the chilled lunch buffet selection—though we regrettably didn’t get to taste it! It looked absolutely mouthwatering, featuring plump, succulent mussels, flawlessly grilled aubergine, and delightfully fresh tomatoes, among other offerings for a perfect chilled lunch. La Veranda boasts cozy alcoves, made-to-order omelettes, and enticing lunch buffets that include hot carving stations, an authentic pizzeria, and regional specialties that showcase the local cuisines of the destinations you’re exploring.

Open for breakfast and lunch, La Veranda is a favored dining spot any time of day. Spacious and comfortably casual, it presents regional specialties that often highlight the culinary traditions of the countries visited. Dishes are arranged in a buffet style, showcasing the menu's diversity. Additionally, La Veranda features a shaded, open-air veranda, perfect for al fresco dining.

The desserts looked temptingly good too. Frankly, my mouth was absolutely watering during this part of the tour! It seemed cruel to let us go past without a taster. In the evenings, La Veranda is transformed into a  charming Italian trattoria, Sette Mari , where you can enjoy  al fresco dining under the stars .

Sette Mari at La Veranda

Each evening, La Veranda transforms into Sette Mari at La Veranda, offering a casual yet intimate dining atmosphere perfect for enjoying dinner. Here, you can choose from an array of traditional Italian specialties inspired by family recipes passed down through generations.

Alternatively, opt for something with a contemporary flair, such as the spice-crusted tuna steak paired with braised endive, creamy polenta, and vibrant salmoriglio. Each dish is designed to be savoured, and we recommend complementing your meal with a perfectly paired Tuscan wine that enhances the flavours of your choice! Please note that Sette Mari at La Veranda is open exclusively for dinner, making it a wonderful destination for an enjoyable evening out.

Entertainment and Lounges

The  Constellation Theatre offers classy entertainment  set in a beautiful theatre which has a touch of classic Hollywood with its warm bronze tones, and ambient lighting – and, of course, ample space to relax and enjoy the show.

For pre-dinner drinks, the nearby Voyager Lounge is ideal; elegantly decorated, this chic bar and lounge is a great nightspot.

Another popular lounge onboard is the  Horizon Lounge , where you can enjoy  white glove service afternoon tea . With its outdoor area, and its orchestra, the Horizon Lounge is ideal for pre-drinks for the speciality Chartreuse restaurant.

Suites on Seven Seas Voyager

During our ship visit we were able to look round several different categories of suites – I was struck by how  elegantly appointed  each were, and how  spacious ! Of course, some were more spacious than others, and the Master Suites, Voyager Suites and Grand Suites especially had the ‘wow’ factor ! However I was surprised to find a set of scales in each of the bathrooms – as a lover of food in general, and cruise cuisine in particular I would certainly be avoiding those if I were cruising!!

The  personal butlers come into play for suites from Penthouse Category C and above, which are great if you’re looking for added indulgence and extra-special treatment.
